Eight Friends Out is Houston's ONLY dining club for single professionals in the Houston area.

Who should join Eight Friends Out?
Single adults over the age of 21 can join and register for our events. Our members range in age from 23 to 71 with the largest groups being in their 30’s, 40's and 50's. The vast majority are college graduates.

Is Eight Friends Out a dating service?
No. We are not a dating service, but we go out of our way to make sure that members who want to meet do. If you meet someone at a dinner and want to see them again, let us know and we'll let you know when they RSVP again. Or, if you meet a member and the setting is wrong to ask for their number, call us the next day. We will check with the member if it is okay to give out their phone number or email, or we will pass yours on to them. No, we aren't a dating service but we do get wedding invites from our members all the time!

Are there only eight people per dinner?
No, we call ourselves Eight Friends Out because we sit in tables of eight. Most dinners have two to three tables of eight so you are meeting 15 to 23 new people at each dinner. Of course, as you go to dinners you will recognize some members and that will help you feel more comfortable with the group, and there are always plenty of new members you will want to meet!

Are there equal numbers of men & women at each table?
Yes. We do our absolute best to guarantee that the ratio of men to women will be equal at each dinner. The only time we have uneven numbers is when a member fails to show or cancels at the last minute.

How long have you been in business and how many members do you have?
We have been in business for the last 14 years. Ours is the only business that is proud to lose our clients, and we do! Many members meet, date and even marry. So, at any time we have around 500 active members.

Are the events only dinners?
We have found dinners are a great way to meet people easily, so many of our events are dinners, but we don't just eat! We attend sporting events, theatre, cooking classes, sailing trips and more. We play, we eat, we socialize, we make lots of new friends and yes, sometimes we even play cupid.

How can I be sure who I am meeting?
We get to know our members. Each member completes a profile when they join, giving us information and their interests to work with when setting up each dinner. We have also found that a dinner club such as ours attracts people who are truly interested in making real connections.

Is the $175 to join a yearly fee?
No. The $175 is a one-time member fee. If you haven't met that someone special at the end of the year, you can continue your membership for an annual fee of $100. We also have a monthly fee of $25, if that better suits your financial needs.

What should I wear?
We recommend business or dressy-casual attire at the dinners, unless otherwise stated. On occasion, we will host more formal events and will inform you of this fact in your invitation to join us.

How do I get invited to dinners and events, make reservations and get confirmation?
We post our upcoming events in the "Member RSVP" section of this site. Registering is just a click away! Early registration is recommended. Once eight members of the same sex RSVP for a dinner, we hold all reservations for that sex until the male/female ratio is equal. (We also invite particular members we think will be interested in the members who have registered early).

What happens before an event?
All of the information you need is on our website. You can view the address and get the directions to the establishment. Should you however have any questions or concerns, feel free to call us at 281-870-0827. If you need to cancel, please call!

What happens after I join?
After you join we will keep you abreast of events in our club, with newsletters, web site information, and e-mails. We will also contact you on occasion when we have last minute openings or when we think a particular group or individual would be a good match for your interests. We email you to confirm receipt of your RSVP. Approximately one week prior to the event we will call you by phone to confirm your seat (this is why it is imperative that we have a daytime number to reach you). Quarterly, we send the calendar by email. If you do not have email please let us know so we may mail you a calendar. Prior to special events, we will send an email reminding members of the upcoming events.

How many events do you host?
Each month we host between 5 to 10 different events. We also host one party per quarter and hold monthly "special events" like sunset cruises or wine tastings.

Where are the dinners held?
Because our members come from all areas of the city, we try to keep dinners at central locations such as Mid-town, Montrose and the Galleria area. Other events may be location specific such as sailing or rowing on Clear Lake.

What types of restaurants do you frequent?
We try all types of restaurants and have been to many great and unique ones in town. Some examples are La Strada, Zushi, Mi Luna, Hugo's, Canopy, Backstreet Cafe, Oceannaire, Truluck's, Saffron, Arcodoro, Shade and many, many more.

How does it work?
We typically have a cocktail social for one hour where our hosts are there to introduce you around. After everyone arrives, we sit down to dinner. Usually, we seat you next to someone who matches your profile and you end up sitting with the opposite sex on either side of you and across. Then you enjoy a three to four course meal. If you meet someone at the cocktail hour you would like to sit with. Let us know, our hosts are very good at discrete seating arrangements!

What happens when I get to the restaurant?
Let the host or hostess know you are with Eight Friends Out and you will be escorted to our group. Our hosts and hostesses are always on the look out for members and will be expecting you. Their job is to introduce you to the other guests, your job is to relax and have fun!

Will any of the people at my table be smoking?
No. All our dinner reservations are made in non-smoking areas.

I am a vegetarian; can I get a special meal?
We always offer three options for our main course, one of which is a vegetarian selection.

What if I don't get to sit next to the person I liked at the cocktail hour?
Just let us know. We will seat you next to that person at the next event. And if you don't want to wait, we will find another way to connect the two of you. Just ask!

Do people date after meeting at the club?
Yes, a lot! Sometimes people go out after the dinner. But many times we see people out on the town who we know we introduced. It's a great feeling!

I am really shy and don't know if I could face all those people the first time.
We have a host who is always there to introduce you to other people. If you are still shy, our host will stick with you until you feel comfortable.

What about my privacy?
At all times your personal details remain confidential, we do not reveal member names or contact information without full consent. Private information exchanged during the evening is up to you.

Can I bring a friend along to dinners?
We would love for you to introduce your friends to our great club! However, to keep things fair, we only allow members at the dinners (with the exception of an occasional "open" event). We encourage members to introduce their friends. In fact, if you do and your friend joins, your next dinner is on us!

Will I get charged if I don't come to a dinner I've RSVP’d for?
We allow a 48-hour cancellation period. With a 48-hour notice, we can fill your seat at a dinner with another member. If you RSVP for a dinner and then fail to show that evening you will be charged for the dinner.

What if the weather is bad?
We have our 48 hour policy, but we also know how the weather is in Houston! We do not want to endanger our members by driving in very bad weather conditions. If you are unable to reach us, please call the restaurant to insure they are open. Also, check the driving conditions on radio, or TV in your local area. If it is very bad out and you are afraid to drive; please stay home. Call us at (281) 870-0827 and tell us, so we will not be concerned. If the venue is closed for any reason, the registration fees of the attending members will be credited to another event.
