In 1994, Lauren Bernick and her yenta mother decided that Houston needed a new way for single people to meet (imagine dating pre-internet)! The dream was to connect Houston singles at fun, safe, face-to-face events. Think speed dating, but slow dating.
The events were arranged by age groups. Since most people seem to want to date within 5 years of their age (up or down). For the members who were interested, there were also "all ages" events.
In 1998, Kelly Howard purchased the company. Kelly has always enjoyed creating events, experiences and cool adventures to help Houston singles connect. In the 10 years that Kelly has been a part of Eight Friends Out, she estimates that EFO has been responsible for 350+ relationships and about 3 marriages a year.
Today, Eight Friends Out is owned and operated by Nikita Abrahams. Her experience in events management for Single Professionals will definitely ensure the continued success of Eight Friends Out. She is looking forward to helping Houston professional singles to find love in all the right places!

Today...
Events are still broken up by age group, though we host many all ages singles events too. In addition to dinners at specific eateries, we also hold a quarterly Progressive Dinner where our members move from venue to venue. They also enjoy special jazz nights, socials, brunches, theatre and travel too. All for the discerning Houston single.
Meeting quality singles through EFO is easy! Simply submit an online application. You can make a payment at that time or wait until your phone interview with one of our matchmakers. A simple screening process will determine whether your needs are inline with what EFO offers. After the interview, we will help you pick 1 to 3 events to get you started right away. A full year membership is only $175. The only additional costs you pay are for the dinners you attend. If at the end of a year you haven't met that special someone, your renewal is only $100.
